..... LOVE IS IN THE AIR .....
Here at Maps of Antiquity, we simply cannot imagine anything more romantic than the gift of antique ephemera. Thoughtfully present this year's Valentine with an immortal paper bouquet, or a map of the place where you met, or married, or honeymooned. With our framed antique postcards, you can assemble a whole series; your very own timeline of love! You may not be able to give that special someone the literal moon and stars, but we just bet your sweetheart will swoon with delight at the sight of a celestial map thereof. If you lack inspiration, give us a location; we'll help Cupid's arrow find its mark.

Virginia - 1800- by Joseph Scott
Whether you seek very early or comparatively modern maps of that fair Commonwealth, we've got you covered. We carry an array of related nautical charts, military maps, as well as city views of Washington D.C., and others. One of America's original thirteen colonies, Virginia's long and storied history is evidenced by these fascinating pieces relating to the Revolution and the Civil War.

We'll always have Paris.

A General View of the City of Paris - 1792
Take a time-traveling tour of the City of Love with our antique maps and views of Paris. Stop by the Paris Exposition of 1889, for which the Eiffel Tower was constructed. Keep in mind that GPS won't be invented until the 20th century; it's a good thing you know where to find antique maps!

Bermuda, Bahama...
Is there anything lovelier than the thought of flying south in February? Snowbound in New England, we daresay there is not. Melt your valentine's heart with the warm breezes of Bermuda, the soft sands of the Bahamas, the palm trees of Florida, and the hot Jamaican sun. We hear Chatham is nice this time of year, too... if you like the cold!

Tabula Italiae, Italy - 1542
They don't call Italian a Romance language for nothing! We carry maps of the nation in its entirety, as well as more detailed views of Northern and Southern Italy. We also carry maps of the lovely cities of Rome, Venice, and Verona-- home to everyone's favorite star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. For your history-loving sweethearts, we have maps of Ancient Italy, and ancient maps of the area, like the one pictured above, printed circa 1542 but engraved approximately 1,500 years earlier. Imagine... folks loved these maps enough to keep them safe for centuries-- just for you! We are happy to offer our services as Cupid's little helpers this year; get in touch, and we'll make it a V-Day to remember!
