Antique hand colored maps showing the United States at the beginning of the American Civil War, as divided into seven military departments. Published by Johnson and Browning, c. 1861. Includes nine inset maps of southern U.S. harbors: Baltimore and Vicinity, Washington and Vicinity, Hampton Roads and Norfolk Harbor Virginia, Charleston Harbor South Carolina with Fort Sumter, Savannah River, Key West Florida, Entrance to Pensacola Bay Florida, Mobile Bay Alabama, New Orleans and Delta of Mississippi Louisiana. Features a decorative border. With fold, as issued. Good to very good overall antique condition with mild toning throughout, areas of mild foxing (mainly outside the neatline,) very minor image transfer, and a few minor tears at the outer edges of the paper, some of which have been archivally repaired. Fragile. Measures approximately 17" x 23.5" (H x W) to the outer edges of the decorative border.
