United States Northeast New Hampshire
Antique black and white map of New Hampshire by Jeremy Belknap, 1791. Engraved by S. Hill and published in the 1812 book History of New Hampshire. Shows early county lines, some topography, towns, and cities. Jeremy Belknap (June 4, 1744 June 20, 1798) was an American clergyman and historian. His great achievement was the History of New Hampshire, published in three volumes between 1784 and 1792. This work is the first modern history written by an American, embodying a new rigor in research, annotation, and reporting. His books were highly regarded and republished both berfore and after his death. This map is framed and appears to be in very good condition with a tear in the left side and some very mild spots. Framing appears to be archival. Map measures approx. 14.5 x 10 inches to the neatline. Total dimensions including the frame are approx. 22.5 x 18 inches. **SOLD**
