Continued from the Revolution [of 1688] to the Accession of King George II by N. Tindal" published in 1745. Engraved by I. Basire. The decorative cartouche holds the key to the letters on the map. The battle took place near Zaragoza, Spain, which is shown at the top. It was considered a victory for Archduke (later Emperor) Charles of Austria. Very good condition with some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges. Folds as issued. Some slight image transfer or ghosting. Approx. 14 x 18.75 inches to the neatline. The Allies took the town after heavy bombardment, led by Henry, Count of Nassau, Lord of Overkirk, a Dutch military general. Antique black and white battle plan map of the Bay of Vigo fought during the War of the Spanish Succession. From "The History of England, by Mr. Rapin de Thoyras. Continued from the Revolution [of 1688] to the Accession of King George II by N. Tindal" published in 1745. Engraved by I. Basire. The decorative cartouche holds the key to the letters on the map. The Allied victory at Vigo Bay in October persuaded Peter II of Portugal to abandon the Bourbons and join the Grand Alliance in May 1703. This gave the Allies access to Lisbon and in March 1704, the newly crowned Charles III of Spain arrived in Portugal to begin a land campaign. Very good condition with some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges. Folds as issued. Some slight image transfer or ghosting. Approx. 14 x 18.25 inches to the neatline. Antique black and white battle plan map of Menen, Belgium, fought during the War of the Spanish Succession. From "The History of England, by Mr. Rapin de Thoyras. Continued from the Revolution [of 1688] to the Accession of King George II by N. Tindal" published in 1745. Engraved by I. Basire. The decorative cartouche holds the title and at bottom is a key to the letters on the map showing Batteries of Canon, Batteries of Mortar, Places undermined to blow up the Ravelin, and the Place where the enemy sprung a mine. The city, which lies on the French/Belgian border, was besieged and taken by the Duke of Marlborough's allied Army in August 1706. Good to very good condition with some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges including some tears that go into the map and a tight margin at top. Folds as issued. Some slight image transfer or ghosting. Approx. 14.5 x 19 inches to the neatline. Page size is approx. 16 x 20

Antique black and white map of the town and harbor of Maó-Mahón, the capital city of the island of Menorca, during the War of the Spanish Succession. From "The History of England, by Mr. Rapin de Thoyras. Continued from the Revolution [of 1688] to the Accession of King George II by N. Tindal" published in 1745. Engraved by I. Basire. The decorative cartouche holds the key to the numbers on the map. Menorca was an important naval location during the war. The British capture of Menorca in 1708 combined with possession of Gibraltar gave them control of the Western Mediterranean. More recently, in popular culture, Mahon is said to be the birthplace of mayonnaise! Good to very good condition with some small archivally repaired tears at the paper edges including a larger tear at top center that goes into the map. Folds as issued. Antique uncolored map of part of France by Carey, 1811, from the 1811 edition of Carey's General Atlas. This is the last edition of Carey's General Atlas that uses the maps from the 1795 American Atlas and 1795 General Atlas For Guthrie's Geography essentially unchanged. This map was originally published in the 1795 atlas during early part of the French Revolutionary Wars, although by the time the 1811 atlas was published, France had moved on to the Napoleonic Wars. It shows the northern part of France with the English Channel. Also includes the Netherlands and part of Germany. Very good condition with a few spots/stains, mostly in the margins. Visible plate mark. Approx. 6.75 x 10 inches to the neatline.

Montauk Point- Visitors in Camp - Maker: Harper's Weekly
Antique hand colored illustration of visitors in Camp Wikoff, (Montauk Point, NY) coming to see Roosevelt's Rough Riders. The Rough Riders were quarantined at Camp Wikoff in 1898, after fighting in Cuba during the Spanish-American war. Published by Harper's Weekly in 1898. On verso is their article on the subject, describing the poor conditions at the camp (which were much improved later on.) Fair to good overall antique condition with some minor toning, surface soiling, and creasing of the paper, as well as a noticeable tear at the bottom which has been archivally repaired. Image measures approximately 8.25" x 13.25" to the neatline.
