You will notice that Nebraska, Minnesota, and Kansas have far more land than they do today. Good to very good condition with minor edge wear, minor spotting, and slight creasing at center. This map shows North and South Dakota as one Dakota, which also stretches over to include Wyoming. Includes Colorado when it was a territory. Also shows the beginning of railroads in this area, with a few lines built, and other lines shown as proposed or explored. Good condition with many small tears at bottom edge into border. Some of these tears have been repaired with tape that may or may not be archival. Approx. 12.75 x 15.75 inches to the outer border edge.

Antique hand colored map of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. Published during a great time of expansion and change in the US West, as well as during the Civil War. Includes mining districts, emigrant trails, the Santa Fe Trail, the Pony Express Route and several proposed railroads, American Indian tribes, geological features, and political divisions. The Grand Canyon is labeled as the Colorado Canon and we have read that the horizontal county lines are a continuing feature from previous maps, but the counties were never truly divided in that way. Original hand coloring, good detail of landforms, water bodies, and towns. Measures approx. 17.25 x 24.5 inches. Good antique condition with overall toning and some foxing/signs of age.

Asher & Adams' Portions of Utah, Colorado and Wyoming - Maker: Asher & Adams
Antique hand colored map that focuses on the railroads in certain populated areas of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. This map was published in 1872 by Asher & Adams. The Colorado portion focuses on the area around Denver showing the Kansas Pacific Railroad running from Kit Carson to Junction and the Denver Pacific Railroad traversing from Pueblo, CO to Cheyenne, WY. At the top of the page is part of the route of the Union Pacific Railroad from Julesburg, Nebraska to Aspen, Wyoming. The line is continued in the inset on the left side of the page, showing the railroad continuing from Wyoming into Utah. The Utah portion focuses on the area around Salt Lake City but also includes the Central Pacific Railroad to Pekoville NV (near Deeth- Pekoville either never existed or has ceased to exist). An area to the west of Great Salt Lake is labeled Great American Desert. This map shows early counties in each state and the beginning of mapping out the towns and counties. Very good condition with some mild toning that is a bit darker at the paper edges and in the fold. Approx. 15.75 x 22.75 inches to the neatline.

Antique double-sided sheet from Tunison's Peerless Universal Atlas of the World, c. 1888 by H.C. Tunison. The two-page centerfold is a map of California, Oregon, and Nevada with illustrations of The Big Trees in Mariposa County and The Yosemite Valley in Mariposa County. There are two maps on the back: on one side is a map of Colorado, on the other side is a map of Arizona. Each map is colored by county and show early county configurations. Vibrant original color. Fair to good antique condition with some minor stains, foxing, and smudges, and some small wrinkles. The strike on some pages in this atlas is a bit faint. Centerfold measures approx. 14 x 22 inches to the paper edges, while back side pages measure approx. 14 x 11 inches. Price adjusted based on condition.

Includes roads, railroads, schools, churches, hospitals, fire departments, street car lines, principal boulevards, and more. Index on the right side helps viewer to find towns on the map and includes populations. This map comes folded in a booklet that includes a small map of the Denver business district, vicinity of Denver, reprinted photographs, an index to roads, and travel information. Very good antique condition with some wrinkles and some wear along the folds and a tear in the upper left where the map is attached to the booklet. The booklet is in good shape but with minor stains. The booklet could be folded under or separated from the map for framing. Measures approx. 18 x 20.25 inches to the neatline, or 20.25 x 24 inches to the sheet edges.

Antique hand colored map of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona with interesting and unique boundaries. Published during a great time of expansion and change in the US West, just after the Gadsden Purchase and just before the Civil War. Includes emigrant trails, geological features, and political divisions. Fantastically interesting information, such as the paths of various explorers with their names and years of travel (and location of their death if applicable) and captions like "This vast unexplored region of country is supposed to be inhabited by tribes of Indians" and "Abounding in...and Prickly Pear." The Grand Canyon wasn't thoroughly explored yet and is not mentioned on the map. We have read that the horizontal county lines are a common feature in early maps, but the counties were never truly divided in that way. Original hand coloring, good detail of landforms, water bodies, and towns. Measures approx. 18 x 26.75 inches to the paper edges. Good antique condition with overall toning and foxing. One noticeable blemish at bottom where map is torn and was repaired long ago with archival tape that has caused a darkening of the paper. **SOLD**

This map shows some of the passes through the Rocky mountains, the railroads, the local native tribe names, and the distances by river to other cities in the west.
