Antique map of part of the Northeastern US published in Scots Magazine, 1758. This rare map shows the area of the French and English settlements in the middle of the Seven Year's War, which was started when the British attacked disputed French positions in North America in 1754. In September 1755, British colonial and French troops met in the inconclusive Battle of Lake George. This map shows the area of the Hudson River, Lake George, and part of Lake Champlain and includes wagon roads, carrying places, forts, settlements, and more. The title includes the name of the mapmaker: T. Phinn sc. Very good condition with mild toning, some tiny spots, and three small holes in the right margin, probably where it was bound into the magazine. Visible plate mark. Approx. 7.5 x 4.5 inches to the neatline. **SOLD**
