From the "Universal Atlas" of master cartographer Henry Schenck Tanner, hand colored engraved antique map with intricate details and explanations of Egypt in the mid-19th century, including notations about the archeological sites, an explanation of commonly used Arabic words, and intricate details of geography and natural phenomena such as salt marshes and deserts, as well as economic details like the location of sugar plantations and slave markets. Very good overall antique condition, approx. 14 x 11 inches.
