Early engraved black and white antique map of northwestern Africa, in the early 17th century, commonly known as the Barbary Coast, and including extensive notes in French ("Remarque"), identifying the region as the most fertile, prosperous and populous in all of Africa, also showing the eastern edge of the "Mer de Sargasse," also known as "La Mer Verte" just north of the Canary Islands, because of the green grasses (sargassum) continually floating there. Very good condition, measures approximately 15.5 x 20 inches. *****SOLD*****
