Antique black and white comparative map displaying the heights of the known mountains and lengths of the known rivers of the world. Published circa 1860 by William Mackenzie. Note that the index for the mountains is not included. On this map the source of the Nile, now known as the longest river, had been identified but the length was still unknown. The Mississippi River is shown as the longest because it shows the combined lengths of the Mississippi River and Missouri River. Good antique condition with a few minor spots, red coloring at the bottom on the word "Mountains", and archival tape on verso to repair four small tears at the top and bottom edges and some seam separation (see photo). approx. 9.75 x 11.75 inches to the neatline. Priced as is. **SOLD**
