Polynesien und der Grosse Ocean. Westliches Blatt, Ostliches Blatt. - 1891
Fill your basket with antique maps of Polynesia, including Easter Island! There are more than 1,000 islands in Polynesia, but Easter Island is famous for its remoteness as well as its enigmatic, ancient statuary. The island was named by its first recorded European visitor, Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen, who discovered it on April 5, 1722, which happened to be Easter Sunday. This Chart of the New Discoveries East of New Holland and New Guinea was published in 1797, with this map of Eastern Oceanica following in 1828, Polynesia or Islands in the Pacific Ocean in 1840, and this colorful map of Oceana or Pacific Ocean in 1848.
