This map includes the cities of Memphis, Vicksburg, New Orleans, and many more important locations along the river. Colored by state. Verso is text concerning the importance of the Mississippi River in the Civil War. "The possession of the Mississippi," said General Sherman, in his speech at St Louis just after the close of the war, "is the possession of America." Good to very good condition, this map has some small tears and stains that are almost entirely in the margins. Approx. 14 x 9 inches to the neat line. Color may be later.
