Antique Sheet Music Christus Dominus - Maker: Unknown
Antique sheet music from the 16th century, hand colored on vellum. Was likely produced in a medieval monastery as liturgy music. This sheet shows its age with some wrinkling, some messy paint on one side, and some darkening in one corner. It is unclear whether the marks on one side were edits in the music, mistakes by the original makers, or later wear. Another fun feature, that may have musical meaning, are the curly tails on notes that extend into the margins. Good condition overall. Sheet measures approx. 20.5 x 15 inches. Priced as-is. Graphic and interesting, will look great on your wall!

Antique hand colored map of Civil War era New York City and Brooklyn, from Johnson and Ward's 1864 atlas, with wonderful details of streets, parks, and landmarks such as Castle Garden in the Battery, the "cricket ground" of Central Park which was only six years old at the time; the Brooklyn Navy Yard; and the western edge, largely undeveloped, of what would one day become Queens; includes inset of Harlem and northern Manhattan. Interesting features: Blackwell's Island which housed a hospital, penitentiary, separate alms houses for male and females, a work house, and a lunatic asylum; and the Crystal Palace on the site of the modern Central Public Library, despite the fact that the Crystal Palace had burned to the ground 6 years before this map was printed.
