Antique black and white photographic illustration for an 1899 edition of Harper's Weekly, the year "Columbia", the America's Cup defender built by the consummate American yacht designer and builder "Captain Nat" Herreshoff of Bristol, Rhode Island, and which was part-owned by J.P. Morgan, beat Sir Thomas Lipton's "Shamrock" to retain the Cup for the U.S. Columbia went on to successfully defend the Cup three years later--a record met only once and over 80 years later by "Intrepid". Yachting, sailing, antique sports print is in Very good overall antique condition, measures approx. 8.5 x 11.5 inches.
