Includes soundings, tides, compass variations, light houses. Shows the south coast of Cape Cod, MA, from Woods Hole east to Monomoy in Chatham and including the Elizabeth Islands, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Very good condition, restored - cleaned, deacidified, backed with linen, bordered with fabric tape. The chart shows light staining consistent with regular use aboard a vessel and some repaired cracks that make it look antique without affecting the ability to read or enjoy the chart. Measures approx. 40 x 62 inches to the neatline.

Exquisite, large antique map of Provincetown and Truro, and nautical chart of surrounding waters, produced with information from 1833 to 1835. The image shows four sections which can be put together as one or displayed in four section. Each section measures approximately 29 x 35 inches, total piece measures approx. 56 1/2 x 69 1/2 inches. With information on high and low tides, bathometric data of off shore areas as well as significant land detail, including landforms, interior water bodies, details of villages and towns. This antique map has been restored, cleaned, de-acidified, and re-backed, very good condition overall with some patched and repaired areas, mostly in margins. Shows elongating North Beach after inlet formation east of Minister's Point. Maximum extent of Coast Guard Beach from Eastham. No causeway to Morris Island. Old Harbor Station is at the extreme southern end of North Beach. Includes the Twin Lights and a Coast Guard station on Morris Island. There is a sand bar just off Chatham light from migration landward of old North Beach- seen in postcards of this era. Oddly, this chart does not show the Chatham branch of the railroad. Does show the inland route of the Nantucket Railroad. Includes bathometric data, as well as information on lights, light vessels, buoys, life saving stations, weather signal stations, and tides. Drawn in pencil is the line of the New Cape Cod Canal, which was obviously necessary almost immediately after the original canal opened. Shows water depths, as well as key for location of Buoys, location of Rocks, Sunken Rocks, Life Saving Stations, Sailing Lines, Best Anchorage, etc. Very good overall antique condition, 19 x 14 inches. Year of publication unknown- it is clearly after 1909 when the canal was being planned and the small 31 in the lower left corner suggests it may have been published in 1931.
