United States
Antique hand colored map of the United States, from a school book, 1855. When this map was published much of the western US was very different than it is now. Washington and Oregon are territories that extend to the Rocky Mountains. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona do not exist yet. Instead the areas of Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, and New Mexico cover most of the west. Includes some topographic information, as well as cities, rivers, lakes, and deserts. Text at bottom lists geography exercises for students. Verso has information about the United States at that time and a history of the US to the revolution. Good condition with signs of age. Toning, light minor staining, slight darkening at glue strip in center, folded as issued.
