Antique hand colored map of Texas from Johnson's New Illustrated Family Atlas of the World, 1864. This map is similar to our 1866 version of this map (item code SOU266), except for the Houston & Guaymas Railroad that can be seen going through the Presidio area. This railroad was never built, probably due to lack of materials and funding caused by the Civil War. Townships delineated by color, with detail of towns, roads, routes, railroad, landforms and water bodies, and insets of Galveston Bay, Sabine Lake, and the Northern Part of Texas. Very good antique condition, overall toning, paper is fragile, some tearing at the outer edges of the antique paper. Measures approximately 16.75 x 23 inches.
