Southwest Sheet, Atlas Accompanying the Report on the Geology of New Hampshire. From an 1878 atlas by Charles H. Hitchcock, the New Hampshire State Geologist, one of the six huge color plates depicting New Hampshire’s bedrock geology, this sheet in the southwest portion of the state and includes Lake Sunapee and Peterborough, NH; pre-dating the earliest USGS topographic maps of New Hampshire the atlas was the first comprehensive map of the Granite State’s bedrock and surficial geology; also shows late 19th century towns and roads. Very good to excellent condition, some minor foxing and very slight lower margin stain, map area measures approx. 24 x 20.5 inches, full sheet measures 33 x 24.5 inches.
