A Map of Old Boston in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Maker: Capon
Colorful early 20th century map of Boston commissioned by The Boston Five Cents Savings Bank and drawn by Charles R. Capon in 1929, on the eve of the stock market crash and the Great Depression. The city is depicted as a neat and tidy collection of red-roofed buildings with the bank holding center stage and other landmarks--the State House, Old North Church, Faneuil Hall, etc.--prominently labeled with scrolls, and the Public Garden with its swans and flowers. Eight heraldic shields labeled Medicine, Law, Science, Industry, Letters, Music, Art and Trade convey civic pride. Folded into quadrants inside front and back covers, full map unfolded measures 18.25 x 24 inches, very good condition.

Hand colored antique map showing part of New England with New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, and part of West Virginia. The maker of this map is unknown, the map was published in a school geography book c. 1850. An inset map at top shows the vicinity of Quebec and an image depicts the Death of Wolfe, copied from the well-known 1770 painting by Benjamin West depicting the death of British General James Wolfe at the 1759 Battle of Quebec during the French and Indian War. Hand coloring is probably recent, although not done by Maps of Antiquity. Very good condition, with some very light staining at bottom. Approx. 7 x 4.25 inches to neatline.

Antique printed color map of Massachusetts by George Walker, c. 1920s. This map features two inset maps, one showing a part of the Metropolitan District, and the other showing Boston proper. The bold red lines indicate direct routes (narrow lines) and State Highways (wide lines). These red lines are printed, despite appearing otherwise, and this is obvious because of the printed text in red. Exact date of publication is currently unknown to us. Very good condition with a few small edge tears, in margin only. Approx. 18 x 26.5 inches to the neatline.

Antique trolley guide for eastern Massachusetts, the map was issued by the Passenger Department and copyright Bay State Street Railway Co. 1912. The booklet is titled Trolley Trips and was published in 1913. This travel guide offers travelers information about the trolley service, shown on the map in red, that connected many parts of the state. This map is the center page in a folded booklet published for travelers. It includes a lot of travel information with further maps and images. Very good condition with very minor water staining in top and bottom margin, and a tear into the map at top center. The map measures approx. 15.25 x 8 inches to the neatline. When the book is folded, it measures 9 x 4.25 inches **SOLD**
