A New Map of the State of Iowa. - Maker: Mitchell/Cowperthwait
Antique hand colored map, from Mitchell's "New Universal Atlas, Containing Maps of the Various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World, With a Special Map of Each of the United States, Plans of Cities, etc.", 1850, published by Cowperthwait. This map looks very similar to MWE085 from 1851, and in fact the 1851 map is also copyright 1850, but the maps' keys show where they differ. Close inspection of the two maps makes it clear that they do show different things. This map shows the State Capital, County Town, Common do., Railroads, Do. in Progress, Do. Proposed, and Canals. Very good to Very good overall antique condition, approx. 16 x 13 inches.

This antique map was originally a fold-out map, it has been restored as a flat map, with tissue backing. Overall very good condition, 20 x 27.5 inches.
