The maker of this map is unknown, the map was published in a school geography book c. 1850. An inset map at top shows the vicinity of Quebec and an image depicts the Death of Wolfe, copied from the well-known 1770 painting by Benjamin West depicting the death of British General James Wolfe at the 1759 Battle of Quebec during the French and Indian War. Hand coloring is probably recent, although not done by Maps of Antiquity. Very good condition, with some very light staining at bottom. Approx. 7 x 4.25 inches to neatline.

Black and white antique map of Chesapeake Bay and the surrounding area by Bellin from 1757. This map features Williamsburg, Virginia, Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland, and parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. This map was created before the Pennsylvania Mutiny of 1783 that forced congress out of Philadelphia and caused the creation of Washington, DC. This map shows nothing where the heart of the city would be although it does show Alexandria, which President Washington specifically wanted to be inside the District of Columbia. President Washington chose the site for the city and the corner stones were laid down in 1791, 34 years after this map was produced. This map is also pre- Mason-Dixon line, which was created in the 1760s, meaning that Pennsylvania still had a lease for all of what is now Delaware and the heirs of William Penn and 2nd Baron Baltimore were likely still in their lengthy litigation. Very good overall antique condition with some minor folds on the right side through the cartouche. Plate line is visible. Approx. 7.5 x 11. **SOLD**

Rare, unusual Antique hand colored map showing a planned railroad intended to run from Boston into the coal fields of Pennsylvania, but whose private investors failed to bring the project to fruition in part due to the financial panic of 1873; shows pre-existing railroads throughout New England, New York and Pennsylvania, as well as "canals crossed or connected with together with mineral and geographical features of country passed through"; interesting engravings include a locomotive emerging from a tunnel and a bridge crossing the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie. Measures approx. 16 x 26.5 inches, Very good overall antique condition, repairable seam separation lower margin.

This map shows the rail road routes with stops and towns from Nova Scotia to St Louis, Missouri and from Philadelphia to Quebec. Includes St Andrews, Bar Harbor, Portland, Boston, New York, Long Island, Bangor, Buffalo, Montreal, Cincinnati, Chicago, the Great Lakes, Ottawa, the Adirondack, Catskill, Green, and White Mountains. This map has an interesting perspective because most of it is very normal until you reach the top, where it becomes stretched and rolls outward to the horizon line, with Quebec sitting atop the horizon. Very good antique condition, folded as issued. Photo was taken with the map under plastic and some glare may appear that is not part of the map itself. Approx. 8 x 22.5 inches.
