Hand colored antique map showing part of New England with New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, and part of West Virginia. The maker of this map is unknown, the map was published in a school geography book c. 1850. An inset map at top shows the vicinity of Quebec and an image depicts the Death of Wolfe, copied from the well-known 1770 painting by Benjamin West depicting the death of British General James Wolfe at the 1759 Battle of Quebec during the French and Indian War. Hand coloring is probably recent, although not done by Maps of Antiquity. Very good condition, with some very light staining at bottom. Approx. 7 x 4.25 inches to neatline.

Carte de la Baye de Chesapeack, Chesapeake Bay *****SOLD***** - Maker: Bellin
Black and white antique map of Chesapeake Bay and the surrounding area by Bellin from 1757. This map features Williamsburg, Virginia, Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland, and parts of Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. This map was created before the Pennsylvania Mutiny of 1783 that forced congress out of Philadelphia and caused the creation of Washington, DC. This map shows nothing where the heart of the city would be although it does show Alexandria, which President Washington specifically wanted to be inside the District of Columbia. President Washington chose the site for the city and the corner stones were laid down in 1791, 34 years after this map was produced. This map is also pre- Mason-Dixon line, which was created in the 1760s, meaning that Pennsylvania still had a lease for all of what is now Delaware and the heirs of William Penn and 2nd Baron Baltimore were likely still in their lengthy litigation. Very good overall antique condition with some minor folds on the right side through the cartouche. Plate line is visible. Approx. 7.5 x 11. **SOLD**

Insets of Wilmington, Delaware; Annapolis Harbor and Environs; Annapolis the Capital of Maryland; Dover the capital of Delaware. Shows townships, cities, land forms, bodies of water, rivers, canals, and railroads. The opposite side has two smaller maps, one of Baltimore, and one of Richmond VA. These show roads, buildings, parks, rivers, canals, and railroads. Very Good Antique condition with minimal staining, two small cuts and center top and bottom. Approx. 15.5 x 26.5 inches.
