Antique hand colored map showing the Western, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Hemispheres, from the Atlas Designed to Illustrate the Malte-Brun School Geography, by M. Malte-Brun, 1833. Map was first created in 1830 and is dated on the bottom with that year but published in the 1833 atlas. Very good condition with light toning in left margin and light staining at top outside border, also a small tear at top right corner and paper has been rubbed a bit thin between the Eastern and Southern Hemispheres, 9.5 x 7.75 inches. Has been lightly restored.

Two Antique hand colored maps of the Polar regions that comprise a double spread from Colton's World Atlas, 1887. The left sheet shows the Arctic Circle including the Dominion of Canada and the Russian Empire as well as Greenland, Iceland, Spitzbergen, and the Behring Strait. The right sheet of Antarctica shows the limited extent of geographical knowledge at the time; includes text exploring notations of the various explorers and their routes and findings up until the date of publication: "The tracks of the different navigators represented on this map show how far the Polar regions have been penetrated by vessels". Fair antique condition, light water damage mostly outside border, paper is slightly wavy and toned overall, Approx. 16 x 26.5 inches.

Very good overall antique condition with some minor toning of the paper and mild seam separation which has been archivally repaired. Authorized Map of the Second Byrd Antarctic Expedition - Maker: George Annand
Printed color pictorial map of Antarctica and the South Pole by George Annand, printed in 1934. The cartouche explains the "notable feat in radio history" that this map was created to commemorate- live radio broadcasts from the expedition "as it is being lived-- from the very lips of the men themselves." This map was subsidized by Grape-Nuts. The map features Antarctica showing the explored and unexplored areas with penguins, whales, bits of New Zealand and South America for reference, and two inset maps. The upper inset map shows the route of Byrd's expedition and the radio waves that will be broadcast from Little America to Buenos Aires to New York and then to the rest of the US. The lower inset map shows the Bay of Whales with a detail map of Little America. This map comes with the original envelope that it was sent in by General Foods company to a customer. Very good antique condition overall with small minor tears at top and bottom, very slight seam separations on right and left seams, and some pencil writing at bottom. Approx. 17 x 23 inches to the neatline.
