Totius Rheni, The course of the Rhein, or Rhine - Maker: Hondius
Antique black and white map showing the complete course of the Rhein or Rhine river, by Hondius, 1630. The full title of the map is "Totius Rheni, ab eius Capitibus ad Oceanu usque Germanicum in quem se Exonerat Novissima Descriptio". The Decorative cartouche depicts two men drinking Rhenish wine, celebrating the local product. The map shows the path of the Rhein from the mountain above the cartouche all the way to the sea. Uncolored, as it was when it was made in 1633. Restored- cleaned and backed with tissue for strength. Very good overall antique condition. Approx. 17.75 x 20.5 inches
